The history is IMPORTANT :
Zines (sounds like zeen) are DIY, self-published works, often made on paper (or digitally) and reproduced using a photocopier or printer. Evolving from early literary magazines and the underground press during the Harlem Renaissance (1930’s) and rooted in subcultures like punk, science fiction fandom, and the Riot Grrrl movement (1990’s), zines serve as a platform for personal expression and alternative perspectives.
Hello Magnolia Print Shop produces a wide variety of zines, but especially loves encouraging folks to take part beyond reading. Titles like "how to make a smash summer playlist," and "a little tattoo diary," encourage the reader to engage, to permanently alter, and to make the art your own!
